The project involves the renovation and construction of tram tracks in Lviv, Ukraine, and consists of 3 stages and 12 segments.
A total of 15,162 m of tracks will be laid, out of which 7,760 m is already completed, and the construction of a 5,642 m portion is currently underway. While the remaining 1,760 m is planned for 2016.
The project was funded through a loan by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and a grant from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of the Federal Republic Germany. In addition to the existing infrastructure works, the project also involves bridge repairs, 1,000 m of additional collectors, and 1,100 m of collector repairs.
When complete, the project will establish connection between the urban residential areas and the historic city center - a UNESCO heritage site- as well as significantly reduce harmful gas emissions and promote the usage of public transportation.
The project has been under development since 2011, and reached a maximum staff of 500.
