The Project is planned under the Muscat-Dubai Coastal Road Connection section of Barka – Wudam Al Sahel which starts 80 kilometers away from Muscat, capital of the Sultanate of Oman.
In brief, the project involves 59.8 km of 2x2 main road, 86.8 km of 2x1 side roads, 15.5 km of 2x2 access roads, 7 valley bridges, in total 28 spans, consisting of post-tensioned I-type beam, 3 post-tensioned decked bridge interchanges with 6 spans in total, 16 valley crossings, and 186 culverts with a total of 1,850 ports.
The project is an alternative to the planned Muscat-Dubai motorway. Throughout its course, the maximum distance to the sea is 1.5 kilometers, while the closest point is 80 meters. The route’s close to proximity to the coast line, which moves inland in certain locations due to tides, has necessitated rock fortifications in certain segments of the project.
The project was completed in 3 years, and reached a maximum staff of 1,500.
