Sections of the Ankara Beltway and the Anatolian Motorway that lie between the borders of the General Directorate of Highway divisions 1 and 4 have undergone significant repair and superstructure improvements between 2005 and 2016.
These included milling and re-layering of the bitumen base, binder and wearing course. In many sections, the wearing course has been redesigned to use stone mastic asphalt.
Bitumen membrane of the bridges and viaducts on the route has been replaced, while guard rails that had lost their function due to traffic have been reinstalled. Damaged expansion joints have been replaced. Wire mesh fences across the route have been repaired and road lines have been redrawn.
The project was completed in 11 years, and reached a maximum staff of 1100.
